Naya Raipur

KCA under the leadership of Dr. Sudeshna Chatterjee was the urban design lead for the Urban Design and Landscape Vision of the new capital city of Chhattisgarh, Naya Raipur, which is visualized as a medium density, medium-rise city on an 80 sq km Greenfield site for a population of 500,000.

To reinforce the role of Naya Raipur as a new 21st century capital city, planning and design of Naya Raipur promotes sustainable urbanism by combining the creation and enhancement of transit-served, walkable and diverse places integrated with high-performance, energy-efficient infrastructure and buildings.

“The Naya Raipur Urban Design Vision is remarkable for its attention to detail. Chatterjee’s street designs, the inside roads, pedestrian walkways, connectivity to public areas and the dedication to build a green city from scratch is an example of good urban design.”

Upgradation and beautification of urban street network

BATHINDA & LUDHIANA, PUNJAB

Majority of streets in the city of Bathinda and Ludhiana have setback spaces which could be properly designed to create a unique transition to the built fabric. Currently most of the streets are characterized by commercial mixed use development that encroaches on setbacks. However the setbacks provide an opportunity to incorporate much needed pedestrian infrastructure and landscaping.

Strategies for developing the street edges in Bathinda and Ludhiana are based on the predominant building typology, nature of the street itself, and predominant landuse of the streets. Sidewalks, landscape strips, street furniture and other relevant pedestrian infrastructure are added wherever appropriate to create a comfortable and safe streetscape spaces. Streets are designed keeping in mind the sense of scale and enclosure for psychological and physiological comforts of users.

Jani House ‘Glen Haven’

“Ravi is a super easy architect to work with. He architected a home for us at Shyamkhet, Dist. Nainitaal, in the Kumaon range, which we not only hugely enjoy but also feel blessed to be able to share and enjoy with our family and friends. Every one who has been there with us, loves the views, the feel of space and comfort which each room provides.

The result and happy achievement of all this is, we believe, because Ravi brought his valuable experience, knowledge and cerebral insights in designing our home  He truly explored deeply to understand our needs, life style and contextualized the design to the terrain of our land. ”
